Owner:

Oppland county. Almost all our students come from Oppland county.

Methods:

We are open to try out new pedagogical methods, with the aim to help our students to become more independent, and to be responsible for their own learning. Independence and responsibility are the best things the school can learn the students. It will be useful for the students for the rest of their lives.
For about one fourth of the time the students study on their own, with the teachers as couchers or supervisors.

We run pedagogical development project together with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (The Norwegian Agricultural University - UMB). All our teachers are involved in that project.

Students’ enterprises:

In their second school-year all our students have their own students’ enterprises. They have about 100 lessions available to develope and run their own enterprise.
Mentor-system: In stead of form masters, responsible for up to 30 students, all our teachers are mentors for a small group (6 - 8) students. Thus each student has a tight and good contact with an adult during the study. The mentor meets with his group at least once a week.

Valle and its' surounings

A picture of the lake Mjøsa towards north east

Valle is situated in the landscape called Toten, on the western side of lake Mjøsa. 120 km north of Oslo, 65 km south of Lillehammer, in Oppland county. In our county we have very much nature - the highest mountains in Norway, national parks and so on. We also have arable land and forests - a lot of tourists, in summer and in winter. But in Toten we do not see so many tourists. In our district we have agriculture - especially vegetables and potatoes.
